Guy RitchieI’ve been a fan of Guy Ritchie ever since I saw Snatch – To me it seems like he’s got his own brand on filmmaking. His films turn to instant cult classics, and being mainly from a music video background he has a quality that is different than your average filmmaker. With Lock Stock, Snatch, and Revolver in mind… When you hear that Guy Ritchie will also be re-creating Sherlock Holmes, you cannot help but laugh. Not that it’s a bad idea (or a good idea either, really) but can you picture it? Anyway, that’s right… Mr. Ritchie has been signed to not only DIRECT the Sherlock Holmes film for Warner Bros., but has has also been signed to WRITE it as well! For more information about it check out the original source at The Hollywood Reporter.

Matt DamonMatt Damon has officially signed to star, with Morgan Freeman, in “Human Factor” the Warner Bros. film directed by Clint Eastwood. Damon will be playing Francois Pienaar, a rugby star, who creates some sort of event that brings together people of different skin colors in South Africa a common ground with eachother. Shooting is scheduled to begin in South Africa within the early months of 2009. For more info check out the original source at Variety.
What is also really exciting, which is also mentioned within this same article at Variety, is that Damon has finished an untitled Paul Greengrass film, based on “Imperial Life in Emerald City”, to be released by Universal and is currently working with Steven Soderbergh in a film, “The Informant”, for Warner Bros! If you know me, you know that I love Paul Greengrass, and I also have a distinctive respect for Mr. Soderbergh’s early work.

Dark Horizons writer Garth Franklin posted an article that pointed out Ridley Scott’s interview with Eclipse Magazine. Not only did Scott speak about a new Sci-Fi movie – Which he will not say anything but how it is based off of a book – but he also mentions doing a Robin Hood movie.

Ridley Scott

Wow… I’m shocked. I never thought anyone would ever touch the story of Robin Hood ever again.
When asked why, he responds, “I think it is a challenge in the sense that with a few exceptions they were never any good. So it is wide open to be made properly.”
Franklin speaks of the possiblity of Scott still planning “Blood Meridian” – the ” adaptation of the Corac McCarthy novel which some call the dark and realistic version of “Dances with Wolves”"
Who knows… All I know is that Ridley Scott is the man and I’m sure whatever he’s got up his sleeve is brilliant.

Bruce WillisThe Hollywood Reporter has recently posted that Bruce Willis is in negotiations to play the role of Kane in the Liongate’s new video game adaptation (we all know what that means) of “Kane and Lynch” – the popular xbox360 title. I was never a fan of the video game but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t atleast interested in seeing how Willis will do as Kane. The film’s stunts are also being coordinated by Simon Crane, who did movies like “Alien”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, as well as soon-to-be release “Hancock”.The project is scheduled to start production in Fall – Hope for the best!

Robert LudlumArt Marcum and Matt Holloway, co-writers of “Iron Man” have signed with Universal to write the screen adaptation of Robert Ludlum’s novel “The Sigma Protocol”, says The Hollywood Reporter. The project has supposedly been in the works for several years but is not just getting on its feet. This was one of Robert Ludlum’s last novels and should be expected to rock the house as wonderfully as the Bourne series. For more info check out the original article at The Hollywood Reporter. w00t!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the earliest CG animation TV shows “ReBoot” is being written by Jon Cooksey (“Rugrats”, “Outer Limits”) as a feature film. Not only one feature film, but a trilogy! The films of the 1994 CG hit will be created/animated by Rainmaker Animation – Also known as MainFrame Entertainment prior to 2006.

ReBoot

I completely remember this TV show back when I was a young lad addicted to the tube - I never, in a million years, thought it would be brought back! Especially as films, no less! I can’t help but be excited about the idea of it all – even though I know they will probably be ruined just like every other classic tv show.

Ed HelmsWorking at “The Office” just doesn’t seem to be enough for Mr. Ed Helms. He’s taken on a couple of film projects alongside. He’s been attached to a film called “Manure” with Billy Bob Thorton, aswell as “Night at the Museum II: Escape from the Smithsonian. I’m not sure what this means but, “He will play a co-worker of Ben Stiller’s character”. In July you’ll be able to check him out in “Meet Dave”, starring Eddie Murphy, which Fox will be releasing in July – As well as Paramount Vantage’s “The Goods: The Don Ready Story,” which will release in February. Hopefully we’ll see Andy Bernard in the future episodes of “The Office” (assuming the series continues, of course)!

Jake GyllenhaalAs the “Prince” Jake Gyllenhaal is joined by Gemma Arterton, and Ben Kingsley – Alfred Molina also gets attached. The film will presented by Disney, being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Mike Newell, and act as an adaptation of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia video game. If I am correct, the film will probably be tagged as PG-13.

It has been scheduled to start shooting sometime in July in the U.K. and Morocco. For more details, visit the source article at Variety.

Jason StathamLionsgate has obtained the rights to the third film of the Transporter franchines, says Variety. Transporter 3 will star its hit lead man Jason Statham, as well as Robert Knepper (“Prison Break”), aswell as the returning Francois Berleand (“Place Vendome”). Olivier Megaton was attached to direct – I’ve never seen any of Megaton’s films but he looks promising from what I have seen of him in general. Also, he’s French… and a former graffiti artist… How can you go wrong with that? -smirk-

Shooting has been done in France and Russia, and was wrapped up in early May – Scheduling for a Thanksgiving release.

All that i’ve got to say is that I’m loving these! It’s funny that this website is written in… Chinese or Japanese…but check out these promo banners they’re sporting in the UK:
